[QUOTE=UnregisteredSBR]"A candidate should never use his opponents name,” is old school Avman. Sorry. It depends on the situation. The Riecke campaign failed to capitalize on the issue. It came across as light weight. He needed a stronger finish.
These boards are not sufficient exposure of Greene’s connections to the trial lawyers. None of the candidates could, it seems, find a suitable way to hit him. Except for Tassin, they should have.
Doesn’t mean Riecke still win, but special elections (unlike an earlier post’s assertion to the counter) are not only about GOTV. It’s about preGOTV education. None of the campaigns educated voters on why to vote for them (except for Greene) and therefore could not tell voters why not to vote for Greene.
It’s a horserace.
Never use the opponents name. It may be old school but name recognition still helps. Why help the candidate opposing you?
I agree with you about getting the message out. When the campaign first started out, I asked in this forum what made Riecke so conservative. Instead of ideas Riecke stood for, I was greeted with attacks. Not a good way to start the campaign.
