The time has come to discuss Tiger Baseball at whole new level.  I believe in my heart that the Tiger team we see this season has what it takes to get deep into the rounds of playoff games than any other team we have seen in the last several years.  It is hard to predict the outcome of any baseball game and at any level, yet I do think the Tigers can hold off UVA; I watched UVA’s game with Ole Miss and they are worthy to be in the CWS but our boys are better.  As a Tiger fan, I had to write that!
Geaux Tigers.  Let’s pray for these boys and their families.

If LSU wins the first game I say they go all the way. I have heard analysts compare UV to last year’s Fresno State team calling UV the hottest team in the group right now. Their ACC record is not all that great but they are playing very good ball right now. I thought today’s Advocate write was a good one. The only thing that bothers me is that Bradshaw has had very limited action lately and their is no substitute for live game action.

Tigers win! Tigers win!

i have to agree with you curve ball.  the first game is quite telling of a team’s ability to play differently, especially if the tigers loose. how well they can adapt to a new defensive game with virginia will be interesting to see.  the best 8 teams are playing the best college baseball of their lives. i hope all goes well for the tigers. the cooler temps will help the late game fatigue.  it’s about 60 degrees in omaha and a nice 54 in cedar rapids.  next time a storm moves through please consider patronizing iowa.

Throughout history, poverty is the normal condition of man. Advances which permit this norm to be exceeded — here and there, now and then — are the work of an extremely small minority, frequently despised, often condemned, and almost always opposed by all right-thinking people. Whenever this tiny minority is kept from creating, or (as sometimes happens) is driven out of a society, the people then slip back into abject poverty.

They are welcoming to Louisianans.  And you can get gay married while you’re there, if you want.

I’m NOT the famous governor, so please don’t write me for dispensations, annulments, pardons, exorcisms, speaking engagements, executive branch ethics exceptions, or creative budgeting techniques.  Just stay in school, learn some good Louisiana flat earth theory, some numerology, some astrology, lots of creationism, some fast talk, but absolutely no volcano monitoring, and one day you can be ... a good sensible Republican voter.  --Faux Bobby Jindal

This thread is about baseball and LSU.  The off colored remak is out of bounds. If you were a base runner, you would be called out.  Please do not infect this thread. It is intended to be fun and decent at the same time.

There’s nothing indecent about love or marriage.  Are you from the Taliban?

You may want to have a quick chat with the citizens of Houston before you extend that invitation!

That is so right. The folks in Omaha are terrific and they welcome us here as the “cookiest of fans” but they love our food.  Geaux Tigers.  grin

That was a great game.  Schimpf’s catch in left field was amazing and I love to see Chad Jones come out and pitch.  He’s HUGE!!!  I bet he’s a little intimidating to batters, for sure.  What do they call him? Dreadlocks of Doom?  That’s great.  And I like Ott’s nick-name “Matty Ice”.

That was a fun game to watch. I was on the edge of my seat watching LSU pitch but hey, LSU proved they can get-r-dun with the bats and good defense even when our pitchers have an off night. Arky is next. LSU is due for a good game against Arky as we played a horrible series against them earlier this year. So if LSU wins the next one who would you rather face, Cal State or Virginia again?

No question in my mind, Virginia.

We will know pretty soon which of the two teams is to remain and the other will go home.  Going to the CWS must be a kid’s dream.  Whatever happens with the Cal State and Virginia game, the team on the short end can hold their heads rather high in my book.  I still thinnk Virginia has the best shot to remain alive and that is based on what I saw in their super regional games with Ole Miss and, of course, their game with the Tigers on Saturday.
