A recent incident at the elementary school on the Grambling State University campus that resulted in a noose hanging around a small child’s neck has left university officials scrambling for answers.
Grambling State University President Horace Judson was driving to Dallas on Friday afternoon for the Saturday football game between GSU and Prairie View when his secretary called him, describing certain pictures
And interestingly enough, upon finding out about the incident, the Grambling President’s first reaction was not to investigate any wrongs done to this girl.. It was to order the picture off the internet, and attempt to hide the incident.
Me? Where’s the Real Bobby Jindal on this one? On any of this business?
You’ve been quite vocal about the other, what’s your take on this? Where are Je$$e and $harpton?
From the article…
“Before marching, the students were taught about racism,” LeGrande wrote. “They also learned about the events surrounding the ‘Jena Six’ and their arrest”
I’d love to have been able to sit in on that lesson!
If these had been “white folk” using the noose, BJ would be all over it..
More unhappiness with the president of Gramblings handling of this matter:
NEW ORLEANS (AP)—The editor of the Grambling State University student newspaper said university president Horace Judson censored the paper by ordering that a story and photos of a race lesson at an on-campus elementary school be removed from its Web site.
De’Eric Henry said Monday that The Gramblinite is caught in Judson’s efforts to investigate the lesson on racism, which occurred Sept. 20. That same day, the Revs. Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton led thousands in a civil rights march in Jena, about 100 miles away from the university.
During the lesson on racism, a noose was placed around a child’s neck at the Grambling-run Alma J. Brown Elementary School. The school, like the university, is predominantly black. At least one photo shows a woman lifting in her arms a young female student who has a rope around her neck.
The use of a noose is wrong.. When whites do it, national protests occur.
Yet when blacks do it:
Concerns about child safety follow the incident in which teachers used a noose and other means because “the children asked questions” about the Jena Six incident, said Justin LaGrande, the reporter at the GSU student newspaper, The Gramblinite, who originally covered the event.
“I was there, and I just want to say this: What happened has been blown way out of proportion,” he said.

My initial question about this is, as always, what are the complete facts. Whatever the teachers were up to is not so clear, but we know it had something to do with showing some kids what nooses were like from the days of lynching. I can think of much better ways to do that without actually lynching the kids. However, no kids were harmed in the Showing of the Nooses, as far as I know. If that’s the whole story, and there’s nothing more to it, then if I were college president I’d have an investigation and then assuming the findings are what we’re saying, chew them out and suspend the teachers for a week.
Worse, the president told the college paper to take down the photos. Those pix were genuine news, and the president was out of line doing that. He needs to go to First Amendment for Public University Presidents class.
There are no beatings or threats here to make this a “hate crime.” Some people’s imaginations are running away with this story.
Ah. You’ve pretty carefully shown where I’m wrong in my analysis. Good point. What I mean to say is, these are all black people. Just give them 15 years and get on with the business of returning family values to our state. Sorry, I should have said that from the first.

Maybe it’s just another case of aggravated stupidity.
Oh, but Bobby....Remember no one was actually harmed by the nooses that were hung from the non-existent “white tree” on the Jena High School campus. There was only the extreme psychological harm done to people because nooses are sometimes associated with lynchings. In fact, high school students of both races were running up and swinging on the nooses like typical high school boys may tend to do. Having fun, in other words, before the psychological trauma descended like a cloud upon all.
Booby will soon explain how that’s different, and in fact the people in Jena were harmed.
Wait, just wait, it’s coming, another booby flip flop!!! Where do you think Hillary learned it!!

I’ve heard all the points of view on the Jena nooses. The only fact that I have seen is that there were three students who had some discipline .. suspension.. after the school board rejected the principal’s harsher discipline. I have not seen any interviews with the students, who, understandably, are keeping to themselves, so I don’t know how to guess at what they were intending to accomplish.
With the Grambling teachers, it is clear that they were trying to teach some kind of history lesson, but not based on any kind of curriculum. I suggested in a post that suspensions would be proper for the teachers, assuming that we have their story correct.
These punishments look appropriate and roughly equivalent to me. Instead of all the BS sloganeering that Fred and Dan are posting about how I am twisting something or other, why doesn’t someone point out what is NOT appropriate and equivalent with these punishments.

There it is!!! Nooses in Jena, baddddd..
Nooses in Alexandria, or the college prank, baddddd.
Noses around the necks of black children by blacks,, well , no harm done..
Bullchit. When you flip fop like that BJ, you obviously stand for nothing, like the dimo’s..
If you stand for nothing, you’ll fall for anything.

Thanks for not disappointing me BRO!!!!
I take it you hear what you want to hear, despite what people say.
I’ll put in as close to your terms as I can. Nooses in Jena, I can’t tell if they’re bad ... there is no record that I have seen of what the students who were disciplined were trying to do. “Hate Quotient” unknown, but there is a possibility the nooses were meant as a sign of racial division. Noted that Twitt thinks they were for recreation and gymnastics practice. “Idiocy Quotient” high. I do see a principal’s recommendation for punishment and the board’s decision, resulting in suspension.
Nooses in Alexandria, that’s the one trailing behind the truck driven by drunks? Sounds like they’re looking for trouble, so bad. “Hate Quotient” high. “Idiocy Quotient” high.
The college prank? The inebriated people on the beach were obviously racist, but I have no idea what they were up to or why they filmed it. “Hate Quotient” unknown. “Idiocy Quotient” high.
The nooses in Grambling, bad, and I recommended suspension of the teachers and further dealing with the college president. “Hate Quotient” low. “Idiocy Quotient” high.
