I will not veto this as it is very clear to everyone that the result would be a grinding halt to the tremendous reforms and progress our state is making. I will give them no excuse to stop doing the people’s business, and I will not allow the momentum of our state to stop over this or anything else."--Bobby Jindal

Rush was talking about phony soldiers and specifically Jesse Macbeth. See his Wiki entry here From the Wiki entry ....

Jesse Adam Macbeth (b. Jesse Adam Al-Zaid,[1] in 1984) falsely claimed to be an Army Ranger and veteran of the Iraq War. He lied in alternative media interviews that he and his unit routinely committed war crimes in Iraq.[2][3] Macbeth began to attract significant attention after the release of a video containing his allegations;[4] transcripts of the video were made in English and Arabic.[5] According to the U.S. Army, there is no record of Macbeth being a Ranger,[6][7] or serving in a combat unit: he was discharged from the service after having been declared unfit or unsuitable for the Army, or both,[8] before he could complete basic training.[9]

Of course Media Matters knows it but the truth doesn’t matter to them.

Here’s Rush.....

Throughout history, poverty is the normal condition of man. Advances which permit this norm to be exceeded — here and there, now and then — are the work of an extremely small minority, frequently despised, often condemned, and almost always opposed by all right-thinking people. Whenever this tiny minority is kept from creating, or (as sometimes happens) is driven out of a society, the people then slip back into abject poverty.

Limbaugh interjected, “The phony soldiers.” The caller, who had earlier said, “I am a serving American military, in the Army,” agreed, replying, “The phony soldiers.”

why does he make ot plural if he is only talking about one soldier?

Because there’s more than just one. You like media matters and MSNBC can’t seem to tell the truth.

Here’s more....

I’ve heard this controversy, so I listened to the conversation online.. Limbaugh is clearly speaking about one guy, mcbeth, who pretended to be a veteran.  He wasn’t, he lied, and is being convicted for it.

The best you can come up with is trying to twist a radio talk show hosts words??

Yes there are plenty of “phoney soldiers” . But it sounded like pill boy was talking about the caller and not the jeese guy.

Next time, listen closer.  And calling him pill boy does demonstrate your feelings towards the radio guy, which would explain your “slanting” what you heard.

Methinks that outside of Iraq and endless investigations, there’s notmuch for the Maytag Democrats to do smile

The Maytag Democrats can’t do anything because the Republicans obstruct everything.

LOL - somehow you knew the Republicans would be to blame. Problem with your logic is: are endless investigations Republicans fault ? Last time I checked, Henry Wxxman (the chair) is a partisan hollywood Democrat.

As to Iraq, the Democrats sold us a bill of goods that differed depending on whether you lived in Asheville, NC or San Francisco, CA. And the truth is, Americans are disgusted at Gen. Petraeus being muddied like he is. If Democrats can’t stand up to Moven, how can we be confident that they’ll protect us from terrorists ?

Limbaugh specifically said Rep. Murtha is one of the “phony soldiers.”

I don’t see how anyone can spend 4 minutes listening to this polarizing bluster and bs.

Also, he calls Paul Hackett, who served in the First Marine Division in Fallujah and Ramadi, a “staff puke” who went to Iraq to “pad his resume.”

Typical “smear-the-proponent-of-some-fact-you-don’t like” tactic that has worked well in the past.  If you define the term “patriot” as one who gives unwavering fealty to whomever is in charge, then anyone who criticizes the decider’s policy is automatically a traitor.  That is the a wedge tactic that fortunately only gets any traction on blowhard talk-radio and partisan message boards like this one.

If soldiers who actually served come home with their own opinions that differ from the ones that the administration would like all soldiers to have are “phony soldiers,” then what does that make Rush Limbaugh?
