I understand that Louisiana Public Broadcasting plans to hold a series of gubernatorial debates commencing September 27, and that only a very few candidates with hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of dollars will be allowed to partricipate. L.P.B. is bought and paid for with Louisiana tax payers’ money, and all qualified candidates should be heard and allowed to participate in any such debate or debates. Some suspect that any Executive Branch established and presided over by a Governor who is elected in such an exclusive State-sponsored election in which the State sponsors campaign debates that only the very rich candidates are allowed to participate in would constiturte a “rump” government that the people could not and should not put their confidence in. ALL CANDIDATES SHOULD BE ALLOWED TO PARTICIPATE IN THE LOUISIANA PUBLIC BROADCASTING DEBATES!
We would appreciate your looking into this matter and informing the public of what is going on concerning this matter.

Quick question...are there any independantly wealthy people running who aren’t invited? Even so, money isn’t the key, Hardy...it’s whether or not you have the backing to waste taxpayers’ time in a debate.

To my knowledge this is not a “Taxpayer Sponsored” debate. I am not aware state funded money is paying for this debate.
That is what the debates are for, for a candidate to speak to the public to obtain their backing; i.e., their support and votes. Presidential Candidates are not excluded from debates, and they have not even qualified to run for president, only have expressed their intention...and some, only if nominated by their particular political party. To deny us candidates who have qualified to run the right to be a part of the L.B.P. sponsored debates, will, in my opinion, be the end of L.P.B.. Four multimillionaries are trying to buy the governorship. Of course, the Republican Party is doing its best to buy it for Jindal...really for themselves, and they are just using Jindal.
Sincerely,
Hardy Pakerson, Atty.

If it is not being paid for by taxpayer money, then who owns L.P.B.? Also, if a private concern is paying L.P.B. for air-time, then why is L.P.B. competing with network and other television-for-profit businesses?
No, this is a state sponsored political election debate in which the State, through L.P.B., intends to allow only the very elite moneyed-class candidates to participate. WE CAN’T LET THAT HAPPEN!
Sincerely,
Lt. Hardy Parkerson, Atty.

Weren’t you in fact never deployed to Vietnam? How insulting it is to people who actually crawled under live fire for you to attempt to use your sheltered National Guard service as a ruse to provide you with legitimacy that you don’t otherwise have.

As a taxpayer, I also get a say in what goes on at LPB, according to your logic. And I say that I do not want to see you or any of the other no-names running for governor on my TV.

There should be a petition to keep the minor candidates without a pot to “P” in, from making this a serious debate for the candidates that made the biggest effort to meet the people of Louisiana and spend the most money to educate and inform the voters.
The sicko lawyer and the refinery toilet cleaner both need to get help.

Now what kind of lawyer is this idiot from Lake Charles anyway?.
All he has to do is file a suit against the state or LPB or who ever operates L P B.
Or file an injunction, keep the debate from taking place without all the candidates.
I think it would be fun to watch the future leadership of Louisiana in a mud fight.

Draft Dodgers like you don’t crawl, they slitter like snakes to pits of hell.
The rest of us who served honorably in real combat, stand proudly.
If National Guardsmen are Draft Dodgers, then famous Company C of Lake Charles were all draft-dodgers. It won’t be long before you are arrested for your Internet Terrorism. Just keep your stupidity and see where it gets you!

And who is this George Blanton? And, furthermore, who is the real George Blanton, for this internet bad-mouther is giving the real George Blanton a bad name.
