Bio

Native of Longview, Gregg County;
Texas; grew up in East Texas Oil
Field and Piney Woods of East
Texas; graduate of Lake Charles
High School 1960; graduate of
McNeese State University, where
was a member of the famous McNeese
Debate Team; worked way through
college and law school by working on
petroleum products pipe line and as a
deck hand on the M/V ELLEN-H, a tugboat
pushing barges and plying the waters of
the Intracoastal Waterway, Galveston
Bay and Mississippi River.  Received law
degree from Tulane University in 1966;
Lt. in Louisiana Army National Guard,
as an Infantry Platoon Leader; married to
Lake Charles native Janice Johnson, an
L.S.U. and Florida State Graduate with B.S.
and M.S. and now a retired high school
algebra teacher and high school guidance
counselor; father of three boys: one a Naval
officer and graduate of the U.S. Naval
Academy in Mechanical Engineering, one a
Mathematician, now teaching math on the
Campus of UL-Lafayette and working on his
doctorate in Mathematics; and one a degreed
industrial sales representative working in the
petro-chemical industry setting of Southwest
Louisiana and Southeast Texas.  Grandfather
of four great and very smart and talented
grandchildren.
